3 week design sprint | summer 2025

hikers often need light when returning from a day hike at dark or as they begin a night hike while needing both hands free to make sure they can grip whatever they need to in the event of something dangerous.

what is the problem that needs solving?

trying to find related items that would spark ideas, inspiration images were compiled.

inspiration

initial concept exploration

by making a specification sheet, it presented the chance to make all the design choices intentional; giving them utility and purpose.

specification sheet

slight tweaks were made from specification sheet to initial prototype to account for ease of production and on the user-end. scale needed to be tweaked, among other things.

initial prototype

production process

the bag was made from scratch; cutting out the fabric, to pinning it together, and eventually sewing. this allowed for a custom fit and finish.

minimal, yet effective; this bag gives hikers the ability to hike hands-free while lighting up their path whenever need be.

final prototype

the light module can be taken off whenever needed and can be reattached via the integrated magnet in the flap and is rechargeable as well. its brightness can also be adjusted by pressing your finger down on the middle.
